Truffula Tree {Treats}

Dr. Seuss Truffula Treats {The Preppy Strawberry}

Did you see the movie The Lorax?  Well, tomorrow heading to school for Dr. Seuss week are Truffula Tree Treats!  Inspired  by the Truffula tree from The Lorax movie.  I wish I could have a Truffula Tree in my back yard.   My neighbors might think I’m crazy but they look like such happy trees!!

Some fun Truffula Tree Trivia – from Dr. Seuss Wiki

Did you know that a Truffula only come in Yellow, Pink, Red, Orange, and Purple are the rare tree color?

 The tops of the tree are called Thneed and the thneed can be knitted.  The tufts are furry which apparently are softer than silk to touch!

 The trees also give a off a smell of butterfly milk? Not to sure what to think about that but I’ll assume it’s a very sweet candy like smell – What do you think?

Now, Don’t you want a Truffula Tree too?

Supplies:

Marshmallow – Large ones

melting white chocolate – I used the almond bark from Wal-Mart sold in the banking aisle.

sugar crystals – we used red, orange, yellow, pink , and purple (the color of the Truffula Trees)

Skewers ( I found mine at GFS)

BOX:

I used an old shoe box and cut a piece of Styrofoam for the inside.  I covered the outside of the box in brown craft paper and then used my Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors .  I printed off the computer some signs and definition of what a Truffula is …

Skewers:  The trunk of a truffula has black stripes and is either black/white or yellow/black.  So I just created with a sharpie marker black lines down my skewers to create the trunks.
