Wednesday Fun

Today, we went to the pool for a few hours and Lilly had a blast!  She ran into a little girl from preschool and they had so much fun in the pool together.  It really is amazing as a parent to sit back and watch your child make there own friends!  We got home and Lilly took “rest time”  AKA – Nap Time.  I’m not  allowed to call it a Nap because I guess in the 4 year old world Nap time just isn’t cool.   In the Mommy world it is very Cool!!

Now, we are under a severe Thunderstorm warning and we had an earthquake today!! How crazy is that an earthquake in Northeast Ohio!  I didn’t feel it because we were driving home from the pool.    I hope the storm passes so she can have swim lessons but for now all we can do is wait.

In my spare time today , we whipped up a batch of my grandma’s raisin oatmeal cookies!  These are Daddy’s favorite and he feels a little neglected with working afternoons.  So he will have a Surprise tonight when he gets home.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1 cup shortening                         1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup brown sugar                      1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup sugar                                 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs                                         2 cups Quick Rolled Oats
2 cups flour                                 1 cup raisins

cream together shortening and sugars until Fluffy.  Add eggs and beat well.  Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, and salt.  Add creamed mixture and stir well.  Stir in remaining ingredients.  Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees and bake for 12-15 min.  Makes about 5 1/2 dozen.

Enjoy!
